Statement

A still image is not frozen. It carries its origin: the gesture, the pressure, the decision made faster than thought. In the eye of whoever stands before it, it begins to move again.

I work across painting, lithography, 3D animation and generative code. Still and moving images are the same process at different speeds. Video makes the motion visible. Painting and lithography hold it inside stillness and leave the viewer to complete it. What looks finished is still in process. It has only moved from my hand to whoever is looking.

I create conditions and follow what they produce. Familiar things lose their names. Abstract things almost acquire one. The work lives in that gap, the fraction of a second before recognition decides what it is looking at.

I’m interested in that moment. Not what things are. What they are just before.
